When Victorian timber started giving way to steel in the early 20th century, nobody expected aluminium to eventually take over — but it did, and for good reason. Aluminium is five times lighter than steel, doesn't rust, holds powder-coat paint indefinitely, and can be extruded into complex profiles that look architectural rather than industrial. For a commercial store front, those four properties translate directly into a frontage that looks better for longer with less maintenance.
We fabricate aluminium store fronts in our Great Barr workshop using Comar and Smart Systems profile. Both are manufactured in the UK, both are thermally broken (meaning they resist condensation and heat loss in the way a bare-metal system can't), and both are available in PAS 24 security-certified configurations if you need them.
The standard commercial system — good for retail frontages, office entrances and restaurants. Slim 45mm sightlines, thermally broken, and accepts both single and double glazing. This is what you're looking at on most post-2010 UK high streets.
Used when you need full-height frontage over 3m tall, or need to integrate glazing with structural openings. Bigger profile depth, higher load capacity.
The security-rated option. PAS 24:2016 certified, suitable for premises in higher-risk areas and specified where insurers require enhanced security frontages.
Aluminium takes polyester powder-coat paint beautifully. We offer any RAL or BS 4800 colour, plus a range of anodised finishes (silver, bronze, champagne and black). Matt, satin and gloss are all available. Two-tone finishes — one colour inside, another outside — are surprisingly popular and add very little to the cost.
A standard single-unit aluminium store front (up to 5m wide, including door) starts from around £2,800 + VAT supplied and fitted. Lead time is typically 2–3 weeks from survey sign-off.
