BS 476 Part 22 certified fire doorsets for commercial premises, HMOs, escape routes and communal areas. Fitted by BWF-accredited installers.
Fire doors are designed to compartmentalise a building during a fire โ holding back smoke and flames for a defined amount of time (30 minutes for FD30, 60 minutes for FD60) while people evacuate and the fire brigade arrives. A fire door isn't just the leaf โ it's the doorset: the leaf, the frame, the intumescent seals, the hinges, the locks, the closer, the glazing. Every element has to be tested and certified as a matched system.
Critically, an "FD30 door" only performs to FD30 if every component has been specified and fitted correctly โ swap a hinge for a non-rated alternative and the certification is void. This is why fire door installation is regulated work.
Our fire door fitters are third-party accredited via the BWF Fire Door Scheme (Certifire / BM TRADA). Every install comes with a documented certificate of installation, photographic evidence of each critical component, and a maintenance schedule for your fire risk assessment record.
If your current fire doors are failing their annual inspection (gaps too large, closers not working, intumescent seals damaged), we can usually service and re-certify them rather than replace. This is almost always the cheaper option. Contact us with your inspection report and we'll advise.
