uPVC frontage systems for smaller commercial units, start-up retailers and budget-conscious refurbs. Good thermal performance and zero maintenance.
uPVC is the most cost-effective commercial frontage material on the market. It's roughly 30% cheaper than aluminium for an equivalent install, comes pre-coloured (so no powder-coating costs), and requires zero maintenance over its lifetime. The limitations are that it has a bulkier profile sightline than aluminium (typically 70mm vs 45mm), it can't be specified in dark colours on south-facing elevations without risk of warping, and it looks and feels less premium.
In practice, uPVC is the right material for budget-conscious refurbs on smaller commercial units โ corner shops, takeaways, local service businesses, start-up retailers. For anything larger or more prestige-focused we'd normally steer clients towards aluminium.
We use Rehau Total 70 and Synseal commercial profile โ both are well-established UK systems with good security specifications available (multi-point locking, PAS 24 certification on request). Both have internally-beaded glazing and reinforced mullions where needed.
Standard uPVC comes in white, rosewood and light oak. Foiled finishes (black, grey, dark green and cream) are available at small extra cost. We can't powder-coat uPVC on site in the way we can with aluminium, so the colour has to be specified at manufacture.
A standard single-unit uPVC store front (up to 5m wide, including door) starts from around ยฃ2,100 + VAT supplied and fitted. Lead time is typically 2 weeks from survey sign-off.
